Magnus Gyllenrapp – New Managing Director at Crane in Tumba
Crane Currency has appointed Magnus Gyllenrapp as the new Managing Director and Operational Director at Crane AB. In his role, Magnus is responsible for one of the world's oldest paper mills located in Tumba, Sweden. Around 250 of a total of 1,300 Crane employees work at the facility, producing and designing cotton banknote paper – an exclusive product used by hundreds of millions of people around the world every day.
”We have a unique competence in Tumba and a very good team. If you love cool technology and want to work with complicated production technology processes, then Crane is a paradise,” says Magnus Gyllenrapp.
Magnus joined Crane from a position as Managing Director at Biokraft, a Nordic greentech company producing bioenergy and plant nutrition. He has spent more than ten years within the recycling industry, including COO at IL Recycling and General Manager for a division within Stena Recycling.
Rejoining Crane in Tumba
Crane Currency and Tumba are not unfamiliar to Magnus. He was previously Technology and Crane Business System Manager, and for five years, Manager Printing Works and Deputy Operations Director.
One of the reasons rejoining Crane is the staff – and Crane Business System (CBS).
“The Crane Business System is unique, one of the best systems in the world for continuous improvement, focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. Everyone can contribute to improving the business and all Crane employees are involved in Kaizen events every year. A wide range of operators, technicians, managers and quality staff are set to identify the problem, defining the best solution and then update procedures and training,” says Magnus.
The Most Complicated Product within the Paper Industry
Banknote paper is the most complicated product to produce within the paper industry. With so many components involved, the product has very high requirements. For Crane in Tumba, this means continuing to recruit staff in paper production as well as marketing and banknote design.
“I'm proud of what we do in Tumba and to be part of the great atmosphere that exists here. Together we will ensure that we continue to be the world's best in banknote paper for many years to come,” concludes Magnus Gyllenrapp.
