Peru Issues New 100 Sol Banknote with RAPIDĀ®

The Central Reserve Bank of Peru has issued a new version of the 100 sol banknote with a 4 mm RAPID security thread. The previous version of this note, introduced in 2011, featured MOTIONĀ®. The Central Reserve Bank of Peru was excited about the development in this technology, with the new version containing even smaller micro-lenses, resulting in brighter images and faster movement of the icons.

The highest denomination, the 200, was introduced in 2011 and continues to feature the MOTION security feature. All notes in the series contain the portrait of a well-known historic Peruvian on the front side.
